Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 23- Natrang’s weekly theatre show ‘Sunday Theatre’ featured a powerful theatrical venture full of contemporary social realities. Written by Balwant Gargi, the play was directed by Balwant Thakur who also adapted this to make it more relevant to our times. Theatre serves as a mirror to the society and today’s performance was a testimony of that mission of theatre.
Based on a story of two close friends, want to befool each other by the best of their crooked tactics. The play is a big dig on the fast decay of human values and is shown majority is looking for shortest routes and unlawful means to achieve everything in life by propagating the slogan ‘Dishonesty is the Best Policy’.
The lust for achievement is not limited to materials but it goes beyond to earn name, fame and an accomplished celebrity status through unlawful means. The play opens with the debate between two friends trying to sell their ideas to each other of becoming a multi millionaire overnight by putting to use the latest invented and developed fraudulent means. Each tries to convenience that his idea is more realistic, foolproof and result oriented in terms of befooling public.
The play reveals that general public despite being well-exposed and largely aware of the fraudulent scams, rejoices getting into the trap of crooks. There is no need to innovate new tactics to befool them as the memory of public is short lived and they willingly step into to trap as they in heart of their hearts are also looking for instant means and shortest routes.
Rohit Verma, Vijay Kaul, Anita Dhar and Hemant Bhola took part in the play.
