| Electricity still dream for local village | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 23: After 62 years of independence the inhabitants of local village, tehsil Chenani, distt Udhampur have not seen the glimpses of electricity as yet the village is connected by surface transport but still is without electricity. Total population of the village is approximately 300 who belong to the most weaker section of the society. The demand for the electrification of the village was repeatedly made through the concerned MLA Krishan Lal Bhagat but nothing has been done till date. The villagers have to spend their nights under darkness. The students community is the worst sufferer for want of electricity. The successive govt have totally neglected the village and it is not understood for how long this hysteria of darkness will remain to further add on the miseries of the down trodden people of the village. Attention of the present govt under the dynamic leadership of chief minister Omar Abdullah. The village has also not been visited by any legislator or parliamentarian although it has celebrated the 62nd anniversary of independence. The problems being faced by the villagers for want of electricity need to be viewed seriously at every level because an huge amount central govt for development and electrification of the rural areas have been attached to the state govt. the expenditure of which is yet to be known.
