Jammu, Aug 23- Extending full support to Jammu’s demand for a Central University, Rashtriya Sawayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said that “it is a matter of discrimination against Jammu region’s nationalist forces by those who work against the national interest. “We stand with the nationalist forces,” he said at a gathering of social activists of Jammu, where the issue of the central university’s location was a core theme. Bhagwat, who is on a three-day visit to this winter capital of the state, said today that the RSS would fully support the “genuine” demand of the people of Jammu for setting up the university at Samba, 40 km south-west of Jammu. Speakers at the gathering alleged that the confusion about the location of the central university has been created by the National Conference-Congress coalition government, as Jammu has been allotted the University but its headquarters were located in Srinagar where the vice-chancellor had started operating and inviting applications for the faculty. They said people were feeling “particularly hurt” over Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather’s statement in the assembly Friday that the location of the central university has not been decided so far. People of Jammu are deeply agitated, especially at the government’s “crude attempts to sow seeds of communalism and sub-regionalism” to divert attention from the real issue of setting up the Central University in Jammu, the speakers said.
