Early Times Report
Poonch, Aug 23: In a bizarre incident, of course not first of its kind, the Army today prevented ‘flight’ of a large family of 45 members while they were about to illegally cross over to Pakistan administered Kashmir through Line of Control.
Sources described disappointment over a prolonged land dispute as a reason for the family of Mir Hussain to cross over to the Pakistan administered Kashmir to begin a fresh life on other side of the Line of Control. This was, however, not the first case of families from Poonch district crossing over to PoK on ‘allurements’ on other side and ‘disillusionments’ back home.
Sources said that the Army held back and apprehended 45 civilians including nine children and 12 women while they were attempting to cross over to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) via Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector of this border district. ''The civilians led by one Mir Hussain of village Dhargloon, Mendhar this morning tried to cross over to other side of the border but stopped and held by the Army troops near fencing,'' sources said.
It is learnt that ‘disillusioned’ over the implementation of court orders sanctioning 15 Kanals of land to him, Mir Hussian of Dargloon village early this morning attempted to flee from his native village and cross the Line of Control (LoC). However; the family was intercepted by the army close to LoC and sent back.
Sources said that on Sunday morning 45 civilians including nine children and 12 women attempted to cross over to Pakistan-administered-Kashmir (PaK) via Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector of Poonch district.
The group led by Mir Hussain of village Dhargloon, Mendhar tried to cross over to other side of the border but were stopped and held by the army men from the 10 Brigade near the fencing on Loc. The group was later sent back and police was informed about the incident.
Sources said that Mohammad Hussain is involved in a land dispute with one of his neighbor Kesar Bi of Mendhar. The duo fought a pitched court battle for a piece of land measuring 55 Kanals.
Sources said that the land dispute ultimately reached the apex court last year which issued an order transferring 15 Kanals of land to Mir Hussian while as the rest of the land was given in possession of Kesar Bi.
Sources said that Hussain failed to get the possession of the land from Kesar Bi as even the police failed to provide him the possession.
On Sunday Hussain feeling disheartened decided to migrate from his village and settle along with his relatives in PaK.
Station House Officer, Mendhar Farooq Ahmad Shah confirmed that the Hussian wanted to flee from the area owing to the land dispute that he is having with one of his neighbours. He said that the issue will be settled by the police as the Supreme Court has also given its verdict over the dispute.
