| Jammu beaten; Rajouri face Poonch in final today | | Inter-district under-16 cricket tournament of Jammu Division | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Aug 24: District Rajouri trounced Jammu while Poonch outplayed hosts Kathua to enter the final of ongoing inter-district divisional level under-16 cricket tournament underway at Degree College grounds, here today. Now, Rajouri shall be playing against their counterparts from district Poonch in the final tomorrow at the same venue. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Rajouri trounced Jammu narrowly by five runs. Batting first, after winning the toss, Rajouri set a big target of 142 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, which, in reply, Jammu could not chase and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 136 runs losing six wickets. Sumit and Gulbash played fine innings of 30 and 25 runs for Rajouri while Hisham Salim and Parath took three and two wickets respectively from Jammu. Shubam Khajuria bagged one wicket. In reply, Jammu fell short of five runs to the target through Jatin played superb innings making 60 runs. Parath contributed 28 and Ateev Saini added 17 runs. From Rajouri, Duniyal and Sumit shared one wicket each while four batsmen were run out. In the second semi-final, district Poonch trounced Kathua by 11 runs. Batting first, Poonch bowled out for 127 runs in 17 overs of the 20 overs match. In reply, Kathua could make 116 runs for six wickets in 20 overs despite fine innings of 50 runs from Pankaj. Today’s semi-finals were officiated by Jai Pal, Mohan Lal, R Bharti, Pawan Sharma and Kanwar Singh.
