| Sibling rivalry leaves brother dead, another battling for life | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 24: In a barbaric incident of sibling rivalry, a villager on outskirts of the City shot his brother dead over a land dispute. The villager identified as Bashir Ahmed killed his real brother with his licensed gun and injured another over a land dispute at Chowadhi village on south western outskirts of Jammu City. The area where this incident happened is fast emerging as a hub of housing colonies. Police said Bashir Ahmed opened fire at his brother Shamash Din when the later made bid to construct a house on a piece of land which is under question resulting his on spot death while injuries to his son in law Arshad Ahmed.. Arshad is an IRP constable who is battling for life in GMC hospital. The incident occurred at about 8:45 am when Shamushdin son of Qutub Din along with his son in law was constructing a house in a disputed piece of land. As Shamusdin was engrossed in chalking out plan of the house when Bashir Ahmed along with his sons Majid alias Putu,Parvez and Javid appeared on the spot with a gun. The verbal duel turned ugly shape and in the ensuing quarrel Bahir in a fit of anger opened firing in which Shamashdin died on spot while Arshad received three bullets. “Bashir Ahmed fired ten rounds towards both of them and in the incident Shamasdin died on spot”,a police spokesman informed. Later the relatives of deceased made bid to block National Highway under the jurisdiction of Sainik Colony police post to show their resentment but they were pacified by police on the assurance of early arrest of the accused. Police after lodging FIR under section 302 RPC launched a manhunt and arrested the Bashir in a late night raid with 12 bore gun while the rest of the accused are absconding.
