| TA troopers held with Rs 1.7 lakh counterfeit currency | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Aug 24: Two Territorial Army personnel were held with fake currency worth Rs.1.70 lakh by Poonch police. According to police sources, on specific information police laid a naka in the intervening night of 23 and 24 at Kali area and arrested two Territorial Army jawans identified as Mohammad Ashraf and Arif Hussain both belonged to 156 presently attach with army 27 RR . One bag containing Rs one lakh and seventy thousand was also recovered from their possession. As per sources the accused army jawans act as Over Ground Workers and help militants to pump fake currency in the area.
During their questioning they told police that they brought the fake currency from one Nizam Din resident of Dhalan area. They also told police that they were active in the area for the last many years. Nizam Din son of Gulaba resident of Baghir sector Dalan is reported to be source of army and simultaneously act as an Over Ground Worker of militants. Police on their revelation conducted raid in the residence of Nizam and arrested him. While the police party led by SHO Poonch Kuldeep Khajuria was en route with the OGW some army personnel of 12 Rajput attacked police party in Dalan area causing injuries to cops. Police have registered a case against two army Majors identified as Sudhir and Nabi five other army jawans. The treatment of the injured cops going on in the sub district hospital.
