| Transporters block traffic, demand release of fellow truckers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 25- Angry truck operators blocked traffic on the Jammu-Pathankot national highway for more than one hour near Digiana ashram protesting against the conduct of the officials of the Motor Vehicles Department and state police force. The angry truck operators demanding early release of their fellow truckers, arrested by Udhampur police following attack on the inspector of MVD few days ago, also set a deadline for the state government to expedite release of their fellow colleagues lest they would be forced to embark on indefinite strike. During the hour long protest demonstration large number of truck operators raised slogans against the MVD and state police force, who they claimed, were unnecessarily harassing them and do not allow them to ply their trucks.
Release our fellow truckers from the custody of Udhampur police or face the consequences, agitated truck operators informed the senior police officials who rushed to the spot to lift the blockade on the national highway.
Meanwhile, the National Highway between Satwari and Digiana witnessed traffic snarl for more than one hour as road was completely jammed and the blockade was lifted only after the police intervened and dispersed the agitated group of truck operators.
