Sharma for suitable compensation to draught hit

JAMMU, Aug 26: chairman, All Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Union and former legislator Ashok Sharma has demanded declaring all the ten districts of Jammu region as draught hit. He urged that special girdwari be order immediately to assess the quantum of crop loss, which is above 75%.
Addressing a meeting of farmers of different areas of Jammu region who called on him here today. Sharma pleaded for providing cash compensation for the crop loss and six months free ration to the affected populations of Jammu region. He also stressed for setting up of free fodder banks across the region to save live stock from starvation.
Sharma also demanded that free seeds, fertilizers other agriculture inputs be supplied to the farmers free of cost for Rabi Crop. He urged that agriculture insurance scheme be implemented forthwith and all the farmers brought under its ambit so that their losses are offset which are caused due to draught wind and hail storm, flash flood and other natural calamities.
