| Rs.5.80 cr. additionally sanctioned for Pul Doda affected people | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 27- The government has approved an additional resettlement and rehabilitation package of Rs. 5.80 crore for the affected people of Pul Doda. This was stated by Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan while replying to question of Khalid Suhrawardhi in the Upper House today. He said Rs. 12.53 crores has already been paid to the project affected persons for their structures (private houses, religious places by the project authorities through District Administration Doda/Collector Land Acquisition BHEP. In addition to individual compensation to affected people at Pul Doda for their land/structure, the State Government has approved an additional resettlement and rehabilitation package amounting Rs. 5.80 crore for the affected people, he added of Pul Doda. The amount stands already advanced to Deputy Commissioner Doda for disbursement among affected people by way of compensation allotment of land identified in the adjoining villages at Jangalwar Begrni Hud and Peryote. Under the above package, the Revenue Department has also identified the land measuring 134 kanal 11 marlas in different villages, for the rehabilitation of the families displaced due to sub- mergence of area on account of construction of BHEP. He said the acquisition proceedings for the above identified land have also been initiated and the draft award is under preparation. In the meantime the land owners of three villages filed a writ petition in the High Court against the said acquisition proceedings and the High Court has passed the status quo orders. In view of the court orders the acquisition proceedings are held up. The matter is being vigorously pursued in the High Court, he added.
