| State Pensioners hold protest rally | | | Early Times Repport Jammu, Aug 27- In view of Government’s indifferent attitude towards the pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir, All J&K Pensioners Association Jammu today held protest rally. To show their resentment against the Government’s callous attitude towards their long pending demands the pensioners of Jammu wore black ribbons on their forearms. Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of the association M L Abrol stressed upon the government particularly the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that quantum of pension/family pension available to Centre Government pensioners may be implemented to state pensioners also. He also requested to Chief Minister to look into the matter personally and issue orders towards the state pensioners at the age of 80 to 100 years. He also demanded benefit of 6th pay commission in favour of State pensioners, arrears of 6th pay commission with effect from Jan 2006 be released at once before the coming festivals as Centre Government has done for pensioners, medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month. He warned the government not to put the pensioners to test and appealed the pensioners to remain united for the cause. Later, the pensioners took out protest rally Mukand Lal, Baldev Thappa, Virender Bhasin, S S Abrol, Hardev Jamwal, Suraj Singh and others were present in the rally.
