| LeT Commander killed in group clashes at Shopian | | BSF driver shot himself dead at Sanantnagar | | Srinagar, September 29: Lashkar-e-Toiba District Commander was killed in the outskirts of Shopian township, while as a BSF personnel shot himself dead at Frontier headquarter BSF. Lashkar-e-Toiba District Commander Samir Ahmed Mir alias Abu Saqib S/O Mohd Yousuf R/O Yaripora Kulgam was killed in group clashes at Neeladora Shopian. The slain LeT district commander was , according to police , figuring on the wanted list, as he was involved in killing nine Nepali labourers and injuring four others at Yaripora on June 12, 2006. A case under FIR No:27/06 is, according to police, already registered against him for this mass killing. More over Abu Saqib, according to police, is also involved in the killing of a trooper of 62 RR Mushtaq Ahmed R/O Yaripora and one Nazir Ahmed Wani S/O Mohd Ismail R/O poshtungpora Nagbal . Police further claims that Abu Saqib had also attacked an army camp with grenades at Shopian on August 22 this year and was more over involved in many other cases and land mine explosions. Meanwhile a driver Madusudan Reddy associated with Frontier Headquarter Sanantnag got seated in a bullet proof vehicle early this morning and shot himself dead all of a sudden. It has been learnt that slain driver had returned from vacation to duty on September 21. People protested against 44 RR , the sleuths of which stopped vehicles for more than one and a half an hours and conducted searches. The vehicles carrying people to different areas for attending friday prayers were, according to locals, stopped and searched and resultantly many people could not attend Friday prayers. The search continued from 130 P.M to 3.00 P.M in the afternoon during vehicles remained stranded on the road. |
