| Farooq takes rickshaw ride in Delhi | | | Agencies New Delhi, Aug 27 : In an attempt to control pollution, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Farooq Abdullah, unveiled eco-friendly auto rickshaws that runs on hydrogen fuel at the three-day World Hydrogen Technologies Convention being held at India Habitat Centre here. Abdullah himself took the driver's seat as he drove one of the hydrogen-run trial-based autos that are expected to hit Indian roads soon. The auto rickshaws are powered by hydrogen fuel. They can run at the speed of 50-70 kilometres per hour and can ply in sub-zero temperature up to minus 30 degree Celsius. About 20 scientists and engineers worked for seven years to develop these vehicles. As per the government plan, at least one million hydrogen fuelled autos will take the roads by 2020.
