| Azad announces free timber, ration to Bungam fire victims | | Marwah, Warwan areas to get road connectivity soon for all round development’ | | ‘ SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29 – Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad today rushed to cut-off village Bungam, Qaderna in Marwah tehsil where 24 houses were gutted as a result of which 200 people of 40 families have lost their properties. The Chief Minister while interacting with the fire-sufferers appreciated the role of army who saved property and lives of the people and also contained spreading fire in time due to which other houses were saved. He also highlighted the role which the army and security forces play in rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected due to natural calamities and in this connection also lauded the role of army and air force to help the people affected due to earthquake of October 8 last year. He said that this closer coordination between army, police and public should be further strengthened. When Mr. Azad reached this area, thousands of people received him warmly and the whole area echoed with pro-Azad slogans. The Chief Minister while addressing the people at Nowapachi, announced that free timber and ration would be provided to the affected families. He said it is besides the relief of Rs. 10,000, tents, utensils and blankets provided by the district administration. Referring to the far-flung areas of Marwah and Warwan, Mr. Azad said these are one of the remotest and backward areas of the state where people still have to trek miles together carrying food grains and other essentials on their backs. The Chief Minister said keeping in view the remoteness of the area even educated youth do not get timely information about the vacancies advertised by various recruiting agencies. He announced that on-the-spot recruitment would be held within a month’s time for recruiting 50 youth each from Marwah and Warwan areas in the state police besides ensuring their due share of jobs in other departments. Referring to the tendency of truancy and absenteeism among the employees serving in the remote areas, Mr. Azad said that strict action would be initiated against such officials. He said though the government is providing added incentive to the employees serving in far-flung areas but despite that many of them do not perform their duties in a desired manner where these are required the most to serve the people. The Chief Minister said that these far-flung areas would be provided road connectivity to open up for overall development, adding that a road is being constructed to connect the area with Kashmir valley and work on it would be started from the valley side soon. He said this road besides connecting the valley with Marwah, Warwan and other such areas of Doda district would also provide wage employment to the people. Referring to vast hydel power potential in the area, Mr. Azad said that first of all road connectivity has to be ensured so that these projects come up fast. He announced that more solar lights would be installed in the area where 1500 such lights have already been provided. The Chief Minister announced upgradation of local girls primary school to middle school level and said that wherever required, middle schools too would be upgraded to the high schools level. Dwelling on creation of new districts, sub-divisions and tehsils including Marwah tehsil in the state, the Chief Minister said that it would help in faster development of all areas of the state. He said that from the next financial year these new administrative units would start functioning with their own budgetary allocations. Mr. Azad also announced that a fortnightly helicopter service would be arranged to the area during three months of coming winter season. |
