| Hakim constitutes committee to ascertain problems of SRTC | | | Srinagar, September 29 – Minister for Transport Hakim Mohammad Yaseen has announced to constitute a empowered Committee of five members to look into the problems being faced by the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) and its employees. Speaking at a joint meeting of officers of the Transport Department and SRTC Union leaders here today, the Minister said that the committee would be consisting of Commissioner Secretary Finance, Commissioner Secretary Transport, Managing Director SRTC and two union leaders. He directed the committee to submit its report with in next fifteen days adding that the government would later-on took the decision on the recommendations with regard to run the corporation on profits, shifting of surplus staff to other departments and providing of better facilities to the employees who would go on voluntary retirement. The Minister asked the committee to keep in view the functioning of the Road Transport Corporations of neighboring states while preparing its report. He assured that the matter regarding enhancement in the budgetary support to the SRTC would be taken at appropriate level. He asked the union leaders to co-operate with the management and solve their problems amicably. |
