| Family members of agitating SRTC employees organize protest march | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 29- Dejected with the response of the state government large number of family members of SRTC employees took to streets along with their guardians demanding release of salaries of their family members on the fourth day of the indefinite strike. Slogan shouting family members holding placards joined SRTC employees and took out a protest march from Bikram chowk office to Dogra chowk. While passing through the Tawi Bridge the family members shouted slogans against the state government for failing to respond to their long pending demands. The employees’ leaders alleged that they have not received monthly salaries for last four months and the state government has failed to come to their rescue by not addressing their long pending grievances. "We have given an ultimatum to the state government that if their demands were not met their children and wives would also join the protest demonstrations on Monday as well. Meanwhile, the entire fleet of the SRTC remained grounded in all three regions of the state causing hardships to tourists and pilgrims visiting the state. The private operators are charging hefty tariff from Mata Vaishnavi bound pilgrims without any check. They are charging Rs 50-60 as against Rs 30 on Jammu -Katra route. Rough estimates suggest that that the state exchequer is incurring a monthly loss of over rupees three crore as SRTC is running its operations in red.
