| Court directive in selection of SIS | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 29- Allowing the petition filed by Suresh Singh seeking appointment as Sub Inspector Police, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court today directed the respondents to consider the case of the petitioner in view of the fact that he too has obtained 53 marks, the last cut off marks. After hearing Advocate Ajay Abrol appearing for the petitioner and senior Additional Advocate General SC Gupta appearing for the state, Justice Imtiyaz Hussain observed that the state counsel has frankly conceded the merit position of the petitioner and the private respondents. Court finds due force in the submission of the counsel. Admittedly petitioner has secured the same marks as has been secured by the last selected candidate. The fact that some posts of the notified posts remain vacant is not disputed, in these circumstances petitioner is entitled to relief as prayed by him. With these observations Justice Hussain allowed the petition and directed the respondents to consider the case of the petitioner. The petitioner submitted that he has secured 53 marks and is next to the last selected candidate who has obtained the same marks, but he has not been appointed while as the private respondents having a similar merit got appointed. Thus their right of equal treatment and equal opportunity got violated, the petitioner submitted. JNF
