Early Times Report SRINAGAR, AUGUST 29- Minister for Finance, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather on behalf of Minister for Education, today in the Legislative Council said that there is no question of winding up of the Political Science, Environment Science and Geography streams in HSS Kootah adding that 686 posts of lecturers were created for 49 up-graded Higher Secondary Schools of Jammu Division including HSS Kootah vide Govt. Order No. 27-Edu of 2009 dated 13.1.2009. In response to Calling Attention Notice raised by Mr. Subash Chander), the Minister said that in order to rationalize the distribution of posts and provide facilities for all streams, fourteen posts were allotted to Govt. HSS Kootah as per standing norms. These include English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Math, Education, Economics, Commerce, History, Hindi, Punjabi, Music and Information and Technology. The Minister said that as reported by the Principal of the said institution, no student opted for Music, History and Punjabi subjects. The Principal requested for conversion of posts of lecturers in Music, History and Punjabi discipline to Geography, Political Science and Environmental Science. Mr. Rather said that the process for conversion of these posts from one discipline to another is under consideration. In the meanwhile, the Chief Education Officer, Kathua has already been directed to provide P.G. Teachers/Masters in these discipline to HSS Kootah to avoid any inconvenience to the students of the said institution, he added.
