CABINET APPROVES

• Regularization of ad hoc, contractual employees
• DA hiked w.e.f. Jan 1, 2009
• New pension scheme
• Revision of wages of daily wagers
• Key posts for 10 new districts
• Revision of pay scales for College teachers

Jammu, Aug 29: Putting all speculations to rest, the government today approved appointment of SL Bhat as new Chairman of the Public Service Commission. Bhat was currently Financial Commissioner Planning and Development. A decision to this effect was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet at Srinagar.
The post of Chairman of J&K Public Service Commission had fallen vacant earlier this year upon retirement of Mohammad Shafi Pandit. Senior-most member of the Commission Nisar Jan was since the acting Chairman.
Retiring Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir Masood Samoon and Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distributions KB Jandial have been appointed as new members of the Commission. Jandial, who was given the administrative charge of Transport Department today in addition to CAPD, is also retiring later this year. The term of Chairman and new members is for five years.
Meanwhile, the State Cabinet also approved the regularization of Adhoc / Contractual appointees, enhancement of D.A in favour of the government employees from 1st January 2009 and enhancement of Temporary Move Allowance. The Cabinet also approved implementation of New Pension Scheme (NPS) for government employees and the revision of wages in favour of daily wage employees.
The revision of pay scales of Faculty Members of SKIMS and formulation of pay rules was also approved by the Cabinet besides approving revision of pay scales of teaching faculty of Government Degree Colleges.
The creation of posts in different departments in the newly created districts was also approved by the Cabinet in addition to the approval given for the introduction of three Bills in the Legislative Assembly.
