| contractual employees with seven-year service being regularized | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, AUGUST 31 – The Minister for Finance, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather on behalf of the Chief Minister today informed the House that the government in its recent cabinet meeting has decided to regularize all the adhoc, contractual and consolidated appointees, who have already completed seven years of service and who are academically qualified to hold these posts as prescribed under the relevant Recruitment Rules. He said a comprehensive policy is being framed in this regard.
Replying to a question by Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri, the Minister informed the House that as regards the casual labourers, a Cabinet Sub-Committee has been constituted to go into the extent and magnitude of problem i.e financial, legal and administrative, that might arise in the regularization of said temporary workers and workout an appropriate policy. Any decision on this issue shall be taken after the Cabinet Sub-Committee submits its report, he added.
The Minister said that the Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) engaged prior to 31st January, 1994 are being regularized in terms of the provisions of SRO 64of 1994. He said that against the total number of 58940 DRWs registered with Finance Department, 55276 stand regularized. The remaining 3664 DRWs are being regularized on case to case basis by the Administrative Department in consultation with the Finance Department, he added.
