| ‘Only 8 hrs power cut in Jammu’ | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 31- Replying to Calling Attention Notice tabled by Mr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora on behalf of the Power Minister said that as per approved curtailment schedule there is 8 hours power curtailment in Jammu region including Bishnah constituency. The above power curtailment is being enforced in un-metered areas under particular feeder. He said that additional power cuts are not intended to be enforced by the department. However, due to system constraints like fall in frequency/generation, over drawls and distress calls from State Load Dispatch Centre during the peak hours, interruptions do take place, he added. The Minister said that these interruptions/cuts are also necessary to maintain grid discipline.
Besides, the department is advising the consumers through media/press and awareness seminars for judicious use of power so that the power system remains supportive and power cuts/interruptions are avoided, Mr. Jora stressed.
