Early Times report Srinagar | Monday, Aug 31 All compensate appointments of next of kin of those killed in militancy-related incidents would be made within next six months in Jammu and Kashmir. The information was given by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather in the Legislative Assembly in reply to a question by National Conference (NC) Member Mir Saifullah here today. He said there are 2,303 compensate appointment cases pending in the state. In Kupwara, the most affected district in the state, 440 cases were pending followed by Anantnag 391, Baramulla 273, Srinagar 213, Rajouri 196, Pulwama 107, Ganderbal 133, Bandipora 104, Poonch 76, Doda 67, Kulgam 55, Shopian 47, Ramban 39, Kishtwar and Reasi 24 each, Jammu 11, Udhampur 8 and Samba 4. Similarly, the highest number of 1,073 ex-gratia relief pending cases are pending in Baramulla, followed by Bandipora 311, Srinagar 136, Doda 112, Shopian 50, Pulwama 33, Ganderbal 27, Kupwara 15, Anantnag 12, Kishtwar 11, Kulgam 9, Ramban 7, Rajouri 6 and four each in Budgam and Samba. He said posts were released to Deputy Commissioners concerned to make these compensate appointments within next six months. Mr Rather also informed the House that all cases referred to government for relaxation in age and qualification in these cases had been cleared.
He denied that every case of compensate appointment was being referred to government for clearance. Only those cases which needed relaxation in age or qualification were being referred to government otherwise the Deputy Commissioners concerned had full authority to appoint people under this categor
