| SRTC employees threaten stir from today | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 31- Several thousand employees of the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) have now decided to stage protest demonstration along with their family members in front of the office of the Divisional commissioner Jammu in support of their demands from Tuesday. On Monday, as the ongoing strike by SRTC employees entered it to its sixth day, the situation on the ground became worse as large rush of pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi shrine were seen struggling to cling on to the private bus operators bent upon earning big bucks taking advantage of the absence of SRTC fleet from the roads. The situation on all other routes where SRTC runs exclusive services was no better either. The long route passengers traveling on interstate bus services have been left to the mercy of the private operators. Meanwhile one of the senior employees leaders Ashok Mehra who led protest demonstration from Bikram chowk office of the SRTC to Dogra chowk on Monday gave an ultimatum to the state government claiming that if by Monday evening the state government failed to establish contact with them and held parleys with their leaders in Kashmir they would be left with no other option but to go ahead with their schedule plan of holding protest demonstrations in front of the office of the Divisional commissioner Jammu in support of their demands. Mehra said the employees of the SRTC have not received their monthly salaries for last four months and for two years the state government has not bothered to streamline the system of monthly salaries. After a gap of three-four months we have to call our family members for holding protest demonstration as state government do not release our salaries.
