JU declares first cut off list for PG admissions, sciences top the chart

JAMMU, Aug 31: Department of Mathematics walked away with the honour of scaling maximum merit whereas Physics and geography followed the suit, as University of Jammu (JU) declared the first cut off list for admission to various Post Graduate courses here today.
The cut off figures in maximum departments were purely in accordance with the tradition, as Faculty of Sciences recorded the relatively higher cut off percentages in comparison to all other Faculties. In Mathematics, the merit went to the maximum of 90.09 percent and cutted off at 79.95 percent whereas disciplines of Physics and Geography also recorded the merit in excess of 86 percent. In Physics, it went up to 89 percent and closed at 79.42 percent whereas in Geography it scaled the mark of 88.71 percent and finished down at 74.81percent.
Electronics, Botany and Zoology also recorded a relatively high merit, where figures indicated neck-to-neck battle among the candidates for securing admissions. In Electronics, the merit started from 84.38 percent and finished at 78.80 percent while Botany also followed it keenly with the maximum of 81.38 percent and minimum of 77.28 percent. Meanwhile, Zoology begins with 81.95 percent and closed at 77.04 percent.
A bitter fight of numeric was also recorded in the disciplines of Geology, and Statistics. In Geology merit went up to 78.38 percent and dipped to as low as 66 while in Stats, it scaled the mark of 77.09 percent and fell down to 59.61.
In Department of Library Sciences, the merit for M Lib scaled the mark of 78.75 percent and folded narrowly at 73.5 percent whereas for B Lib, the merit kissed the mark of 78.61 percent and dipped at 69.64 percent to conclude the first cut off list.
The disciplines of Commerce and Economics also recorded handsome cut off merit figures. In Commerce, the merit topped with 77.39 and concluded with 67.52 percent while for B.Sc candidates it started from 78.24 percent and finished at 72.97 percent. Meanwhile, In Economics, the merit goes up to 72.46 percent and concluded at the mark of 63.19. In udhampur campus , the merit kissed up to 61.28 and dipped at 55.19 percent.
Department of Education too witnessed healthy cut off figures. In M Ed, the merit gone up to 76.40 and cut off at 69.64 percent .But, in MA Education, the highest percentage stood at 68.04 percent, which went down to 63.47 to finish up.
In the Faculty of Social Sciences, Sociology recorded the maximum of 70.03 and minimum of 65.81 percent whereas in allied category the cut off percentage stood at the maximum of 71.03 percent and finished at 68.24. Meanwhile, for applicants from Science and Commerce stream, the merit surprisingly touched the mark of 82.79 and finished at 80 percent. History recorded the highest of 70.47 percent and lowest of 61.38 percent whereas in allied category it recorded the highest of 83.45 percent and lowest of 71.33 percent. Meanwhile, in Political Science, the merit touched 67.61 percent and fell down to 62.28
A stiff competition was witnessed in Languages also wherein English recorded the maximum 70.28 percent and lowest of 61.33 percent. Hindi also made a good beginning with 68.14 percent and finished with 59.95. In Dogri the cut off percentage gone up to 68.19 percent but dashed at 58.47 percent. Sanskrit and Urdu also recorded the handsome initial mark of 71.42 and 69.66 percent respectively but closed at 58.14 and 59.71 percent respectively.
In Psychology the merit went upto 70.57 and dipped at 66.85 percent.
The lowest initial percentage was recorded in Buddhist Studies and Punjabi wherein maximum merit recorded was 69.66 and 67.38 percent and steeped down to58.19 and 57.09 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the next cut off list would also be declared soon.
