| Rs. 2.37 Cr relief to hail storm sufferers of Bishnah | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, SEPT 1: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla today said in the Legislative Council that the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu informed that substantive loss had occurred to the standing paddy crops in some villages of district Jammu and district Samba due to heavy rainfall/hailstorm on October 13, 14 and 15, 2008. He said that the Government Vide order No. Rev/ER/235 of 2008 dated 25-10-2008 ordered special Girdawari to be conducted in Tehsil Bishnah of District Jammu where the impact of damage to the crops was more than 50%. The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu conveyed that 118580 kanals and 15 marlas of land under crops (paddy) have been damaged in Tehsil Bishnah only. However, no mention about any damage was reported with regard to R.S. Pura. Entire land under reference falls under irrigated category and the impact of damage was more than 50%. Bhalla said that as per CRF norms, the relief admissible is at the rate of Rs. 4000/- per hectare for the irrigated category and where the loss is more than 50%. The total amount of relief worked out to the tune of over Rs. 2.37crore. He said that the case was placed before the CRF committee for consideration/approval to the release of Rs. 2,37,16,150/- in favour of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for payment to the hailstorm sufferers of October 2008 of tehsil Bishnah ,district Jammu. The said amount has been released in favour of the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for its further release to the Deputy Commissioner Jammu for disbursement among the beneficiaries vide Govt.
