| 17681 natives employed in local industries | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 01 – In reply to a question of Mr. Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, the Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr. Surjeet Singh Slathia today informed the Legislative Council that in terms of Government Order No: 265-Ind of 2005 dated 27.10.2005 read with Government Order No. 242-IND of 2007 dated 12.12.2007 the entitlement of the industrial units registered after January 31, 2004 to the incentives under the State Industrial Policy announced vide Government Order No: 21-Ind of 2004 dated January 27, 2004 is subject to the condition of employment of State subjects to the extent of 90% in these units in a phased manner. The Minister said that the High Court of J&K State has stayed the Govt. Order No: 265-IND of 2005 dated 27.10.2005 and the case is being followed up for getting the stay vacated. He said that 17,681 permanent residents of J&K have been provided jobs in the industrial units upto ending March, 2009. Slathia said that the incentives to industrial units were being paid after enforcing the percentage of local employment obligations as per Govt. Order earlier. However, after the order was stayed by the High Court, this condition is not being enforced as the order has ceased to be operative. The question of recovery of incentives paid shall arise only after the matter is finally adjudicated upon by the High Court, he added.
