9/1/2009 10:12:50 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 01- To commemorate XII Artillery Reunion, Trishul Gunners conducted a 4-day Regiment of Artillery Rafting Expedition from Chilling to Saspol over the mighty Zanskar and Indus Rivers in the majestic Leh valley which was flagged in today.
Major General AK Oberoi, General Officer Commanding the Trishul Division had flagged off the event from Chilling on August 29 amidst great fanfare. The adventurers braved the mighty rapids on Zanskar and Indus River over a distance of 30 Km to reach Nimu the same day. It was a matter of great pride and honour for the team to be joined at Nimu by Lieutenant General VK Chaturvedi, Colonel Commandant Regiment of Artillery on August 30. Together the adventures braved the freezing and turbulent waters of Indus River to reach Saspol, 30 Km downstream, where the team was flagged in. This grueling event over a distance of 60 Km tested the physical as well as the mental robustness of Gunner Adventurers and also served as a good motivation for the youth of far flung areas of Ladakh to join our elite forces.
