| Linemen Union demand compensation for Mohan’s family | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, SEP 1: All Jammu and Kashmir Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union, President Ghulam Nabi Bhat while addressing workers in an emergency meeting demanded ex-gratia and compensation for the deceased lineman Mohan Lal of Reasi, who lost his life while performing duties upon which he was forcibly deputed. Bhat informed that PDD is playing with the lives of poor people by employing them as daily wagers on need basis. He said that these daily wages did not have any experience and are being forcibly deputed to climb upon the poles for doing work and that too without switching off the grid which pose serious threat to their lives. He urged upon the state government and the officials at the helm of affairs to provide a suitable job to wife of Mohan Lal who died while performing duties under SRO-43. He informed that his wife and two minor children could not live the life with out any source of income. He falyed the doctors of GMC who attended the Mohan with negligent attitude on the day he was admitted for treatment from Udhampur hospital and was later referred to Chandigarh while he was declared brought dead. Rattan Singh, Susheel Kumar, Babu Ram, Suresh Anthal, Shakti Kumar and Surinder Sharma also attended the meeting. |
