Jora visits Dul Hasti 390 MW Hydro project being commissioned in November

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29 – 390 Mega Watt Dul Hassti Power Project is expected to be commissioned in the month of November 2006 which will produce 1976 million units of power annually out of which 12 per cent shall be provided to Jammu and Kashmir state free of cost. This was informed by General Manger of the Dul Hasti Power Mr. Jatinder Singh to the Power Minister Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, who visited the power house of the Dul Hasti today during his three days extensive tour of Doda district.
The Minister was informed that some hurdle on kilometer 7 of the HRT have been over come and finishing touching are being given to remaining 4 kilometers for its commissioning on the scheduled date.
The Minister with the team of engineers of state and NHPC went around all section of the power house and was acquainted with all valuable inputs by the NHPC engineers. He was also informed that NHPC besides construction of power projects in welfare programmes in and around the project sites in the area. The construction of the Dul Hasti project has given fillip both in economic as well as over all development of Kishtwar and the agency has provided jobs to thousands of local educated skilled and semiskilled population the General Manager added while deliberating the silent features of the Dul Hasti project during the visit of Minister .
Prior to this, the Power Minister on the other day conducted extensive tour of tehsil Bhaderwah and Gandoh and inspected a number of ongoing PDD works.
A number of deputations met the Minister and listed their so many demands for solution which include immediate construction of Receiving Stations at Bhatyas, Ganga in Gandoh, Power to left out villages and hamlets and payment of pending wages to the daily wagers of the department. The Minister gave a patient hearing and assured consideration of the demands.
The Minister also conducted meeting of departmental engineers and field staff and impressed upon them to ensure transparency in power supply and revenue position besides gear up their efforts to contain power thefts/ pilferages, regularization of the illegal connections in their areas. Similar meetings were also convened by him at Doda and Batote. Member Legislative Assembly Doda Mr. Abdul Majid Wani also present at Doda.
The Minister inspected the land to be acquired for setting up Power Grid Station at Kilotran village in Gandoh. Mr. Mohammad Sharief Niaz and prominent persons of the area were present on the occasion.
Chief Engineers, superintendent Engineers, Executive Engineer of various divisions accompanied the Minister during the tour.
