| PROCUREMENT PRICE OF APPLES: CABINET MEET MAY WITNESS NOISY SCENES | | |
Srinagar,September 29 Coalition partners- Congress and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir are preparing for another round of show down over the issue of hiking procurement price of apple during Saturdays cabinet meeting.
Informed sources told Kashmir Independent Press on Friday, Saturdays cabinet meeting may witness noisy scenes as ministers from both the parties are expected to lobby hard in support of their argument before taking the final decision on the issue of procurement price of apple.
It may be mentioned that senior Congress leader and Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma along with Pradesh Congress president and education minister Peerzada Mohd Sayeed had locked horns with Horticulture Minister Mohd Dilawar Mir during a meeting of council of ministers where both the sides stuck to their stand and opposed each others argument over the issue.The issue holds all the potential of snowballing in to major controversy and may further strain relations between the coalition partners as no one is willing to scale down from their stated positions,observes in Srinagar said.
Sources in the congress told KIP that Congress ministers are opposed to hiking procurement price of C grade culled apples as they think that the PDP minister was pushing this proposal at the behest of PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed who enjoy close rapport with one of the businessmen dealing with apple products.On the other hand, PDP ministers are appear disinterested in resolving the crisis and are belived to be waiting for the Saturday cabinet meeting to throw their weight around their fellow minister to put congress ministers in the spot.It remains to be seen how far both the coalition partners would go to resolve the issue amicably without disturbing the coalition arithmetic. |
