| JSM strongly condemns police brutality on agitating students | | Criticizes Dr. Karan Singh for his immature statements | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 3- Jammu State Morcha (P) has strongly condemned the police brutality against the peaceful demonstration of students of various colleges for the establishment of Central University in Jammu.
While extending Morcha’s full support to the agitating students, the JSM alleged that using all sorts of repressive measures against peaceful demonstrations shows that there is a total lack of understanding of the ground situation. It seems that the State Government wants to precipitate the situation by causing bodily harm to the students and escalate this peaceful agitation to a violent one
The Morcha has also cautioned the police to avoid such repressive actions and allow the students to hold their peaceful demonstrations otherwise the whole situation may become violent and lead to tragic loss of life and property for which the State Government and the Police will be solely responsible.
The Morcha President Prof Virender Gupta has impressed upon the Union HRD Ministry to immediately announce the location of CU near Samba where the land has already been identified.
The Morcha has also criticized Dr. Karan Singh for his immature and unthought-of statements on the Central University issue. By giving this statement Dr. Karan Singh has shown once again that he is far removed from the reality. It is a pity that in all these years there has been no worth while contribution from him for the betterment of the people of Jammu even when he remained many years as the Union Cabinet Minister and headed many other organizations. His espousing the cause for establishing this University in Kishtwar region again shows his utter lack of knowledge on the norms of establishing such Universities which clearly stipulate that the Central University should be near a Railhead and Airport with an adequate road connectivity to enable students and scholars from all over the country and world come over. Rather than pressing upon the Union and State Government to establish the already sanctioned CU in such statements of his (Dr. Singh) just go to show that he continues to dance to the tunes of his Congress masters in Delhi and has only crocodile tears for the people of Jammu. Such statements from people like him will only make the HRD create excuses and postpone the establishment of this University in Jammu.
The Morcha has also condoled the tragic death of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and observed two minutes silence in his memory.
