| BJP demands trauma hospital, SRTC buses for Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Sep 03: Prominent Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Sunil Sharma has demanded immediate setting up of trauma hospital in Kishtwar district, which is witnessing steep rise in road accidents. In a press statement, issued here today, Sharma said that the coalition government in the state is making cruel joke with the people living in Chenab Valley comprising three districts of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban on the name of concrete measures to combat increasing number of road accidents. Hundreds of people, he said, have lost their lives while scores of others were injured in series of road mishaps in erstwhile Doda district especially in Kishtwar in 2009. “However, government in the name of concrete measures was only befooling people and making false claims which is completely in contrary to the ground situation”, he said. Taking a dig at the chief minister Omar Abdullah for his non-serious attitude towards the problem, Sharma said that four trauma hospitals have been sanctioned by the government but ironically none of these is for Chenab Valley. “There is urgent need of a trauma hospital in the area owing to the increasing number of road mishaps and deteriorating condition of medicare facilities in district and sub-district hospitals”, he added. He said that the government recently announced that it has pressed twenty SRTC buses in the mountainous region to meet the shortage of transportation. “The buses were flagged off by a cabinet minister with pump and show but same turned out to be only a publicity stunt”, he said adding, “The buses have been introduced for National Highway from Jammu-Kishtwar, Jammu-Bhaderwah but the people in the interiors of the mountainous regions still continue to suffer due to lack of proper transportation facilities”. The government, he said, will not be allowed to play with the lives of innocent people and if the authorities failed to come out with a concrete measures to curb the menace of road mishaps, Bhartiya Janta Party will launch a massive agitation.
