| Mourning in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, SEP 3: As a mark of respect to Dr. Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, who passed away on September 2nd in an air crash, the National and State flags shall fly at half mast on September 3 and 4 in Jammu and Kashmir on all the buildings and places where these are flown regularly. The Jammu and Kashmir Governor, N. N. Vohra, has expressed profound grief over the tragic death Reddy and expressed his sympathy with the bereaved family of Dr. Reddy and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. Condoling tragic death of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Omar Abdullah in a message to the bereaved family and the people of Andhra Pradesh has expressed deep shock over the incident. “We share your sorrow and convey the deep sense of sympathy and solidarity at this hour of high gloom”, he added. Omar has also conveyed the condolence to the President, Indian National Congress (INC), Sonia Gandhi and Congress leadership of Andhra Pradesh and on his and on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the sad and unfortunate demise of Reddy. Expressing profound shock and grief over Reddy’s death Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand has recalled contribution of Reddy in strengthening the democratic institutions in the country. He said Reddy was ace congress leader, who worked relentlessly to popularize congress ideology about liberal democracy and secularism. National Conference Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta has also mourned the death of Rajasekhara Reddy and described him as an "ideal chief minister who was a role model for other states". Describing him as a "natural leader who was loved equally by the public, his colleagues and the common man", Gupta said "it was with a deep sense of grief and personal loss" that he learnt of YSR's "tragic and untimely demise". He said YSR had distinguished himself in every position in his long and illustrious political career.
