| Crime branch summons vehicle owners, figuring in token tax fraud | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 04- In a much publicized misappropriation of one time token tax that surfaced in RTO office Jammu, Crime Branch Jammu today summoned all those vehicle owners whose names have figured during the investigation of case FIR No 01/09.
The Crime Branch had conducted raids in RTO office on specific information on January 10, 2009 for irregularities including misappropriation of one time token tax.
During the course of investigation the officials and agents were subjected to questioning and record was found tempered in connivance with the RTO officials while releasing the payment of one time token tax during the year 2004-05.
According to the sources the vehicle owners have been directed to produce themselves along with the photocopies of registration certificates so that investigation can be completed on merits. The owners may visit this office on any working day from 5th to 10th of September 2009 from 1000 hrs to 1700 hrs, the Crime Branch officials said.
The list according to sources would be published in the daily newspapers and will also be available on the notice board of Crime Branch.
