Appointment of two JE’s challenged
HC issues notice to Govt. returnable within 3 weeks

Jammu, Sept 05- In a petition challenging the appointment of two junior engineers Electrical, Justice Mohammed Yaqoob Mir of Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued notice to Principal Secretary, PDD, Chairman Service Selection Board and Private respondents returnable within three weeks and directed that considered appointment of private respondents should not be given effect till then.
Advocate Veenu Gupta appearing for the petitioner Ravi Kumar Kataria submitted that the petitioner figured in the select list of JE Electrical Grade-II State cadre at serial No.7, under OSC category. The said select list was published in a newspaper on August 23, 2009. The Government accorded sanction to the temporary appointment of various candidates which included the candidates belonging to OSC category including private respondent Shahid Ahmed Khan and Danish Rasool Mir, whereas in the select list both of them did not figure. The petitioner prayed for staying the appointment of two private respondents. JNF

Minister launches health fair in memory of Durga Dass Sharma
Jammu, Sept 5- A day long health mela organized in the memory of Late Durga Dass Sharma, a noted social worker of Thail area was inaugurated by the Health Minister Sham Lal today. About 3000 patients were examined and provided free medicines by the specialists of Health and Medical Education Department.
Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Jasbir Singh was also present on the occasion.
It may be recalled that Durga Dass Memorial Trust has been organizing this Mela for the last fourteen years in memory of its founder Durga Dass.
In his inaugural address the Health Minister appreciated the efforts of the organizers for organizing a health Mela in the area. He assured that a new building for the Health Centre would be got constructed and an ambulance provided to the Health Centre shortly.
Dr. Jasbir Singh while speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the Society for organizing such mega events for the welfare of the people and hoped that such activities will be continued in future also.
On this occasion more than 80 patients were registered for cataract surgery and operations were conducted on the spot. The leading practitioners of the State including Dr. K.B. Gupta, Ex-Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, GMC Jammu Dr. H.S. Sudan, Ex-Professor of Dermatology, Dr. Sunil Kotwal, Professor of ENT and Dr. T.R. Raina, Prof& Head, Department of Transfusion Medicine, GMC Dr. Arun Mahajan, Physician Specialist, Dr. Poonam Mahajan and Dr. Jyotsana, Gynecologist, Dr. Lalit Gupta, Surgeon, Dr. Naresh Chopra, Orthopaedician, Dr. R.K. Sharma, Radiologist, Dr. Sanjeet Parihar, ENT Specialist, Dr. Dimple Gupta, Dr. Pankaj Gupta and Dental Surgeon from PHC Thial and other doctors and paramedics of Block Majalta also attended the camp. The facilities for free Blood Sugar testing were organized by Rohit Nargotra from Life Scan, Johnson & Johnson. More than 300 patients were tested for Blood Sugar.
