| Self rule is peace hope for South Asia: Mufti | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 5: Claiming that his party has a vision and programme not only for peace in Jammu and Kashmir but also for stability in the South Asian region, the former Chief Minister and the Peoples Democratic Party president Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today asked his party workers to educate masses on the self rule formula. Mufti said that document of self-rule prepared by his party is the only viable solution to address both internal and external dimensions of the vexed Kashmir problem. “PDP has pioneered a political and economic agenda for establishing sustainable peace in the sub-continent in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular”, the former Chief Minister told a meeting of his party workers here today. Mufti asserted that the self-rule is the only viable solution for solving all problems of this region. “Wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions have been incorporated in the Self-rule document and only through this proposal both internal and external dimensions of Kashmir problem would be addressed”, he said and announced that the party would educate the masses about this proposal to evolve consensus on this proposal. "Establishing lasting peace and to consolidate the reconciliation process is on the top of the agenda of PDP ", Mr Sayeed said and made it clear that main aim of forming PDP was to fulfill aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to establish peace in this region. “Our party through its pro-peace policies, has consolidated reconciliation process and facilitated the efforts of establishing peace in this sub-continent”, he said, added that beginning of cross LoC trade, opening of Srinagar-Muzafarabad and Poonch-Rawalakote roads are noticeable achievements of PDP”. He reminded the party workers about the situation, which was prevailed in the border areas before 2002. “The prevailing peace all along the borders from Kathua to Kargil is result of the reconciliatory policy pioneered and propagated by the PDP”, he said. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed reminded the people that it was during PDP regime that effective steps were taken to remove discrimination and to empower different regions and sub-regions. While pointing towards functioning of the Congress-National Conference coalition in the State, he said that serious differences have been appeared between two coalition partners on many issues. He further said that both the coalition partners have entered into an alliance without any programme and policy. He exhorted the party workers to effectively take up the issues related to the common masses as this coalition regime has failed to fulfill the promises that made with the people during assembly elections. He demanded stipend for the educated unemployed youth of the state as the coalition has failed to come up to the expectation of the unemployed youth.
