| State, CM in confused state: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, SEP 6: It is a matter of serious concern that infiltration is on the increase and Pakistan wants to divert the attention of the public from their real problems towards J&K by increasing the incidences of violence and raising dispute about J&K on one or the other pretext. BJP State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora (Adv.) said the recent cover fire extended for safe passage to militants at Actual Line of Control is a deliberate step to assist militants and is condemnable. The statement of Indian Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor should be taken seriously; he has exposed the evil designs of Pakistan to increase militant activities in the state. When such type of situation is emerging, state government should also deal with the internal militancy related problems with iron hands. Recent protest in Shopian about the demand of withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and also for withdrawal of army from Kashmir and releasing the militant leaders should be an eye-opener for the state. We fail to understand why liberal and soft approach is adopted towards such elements. Ramesh Arora said that it is the prime duty and responsibility of the state government to restore confidence among the common man that their life and property is safe in the hands of state and militants or anti-national elements will be dealt as per law of the land. It appears that our state is passing through a state of confusion as State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also appears to be confused personality who, in the meeting of the unified command has demanded abolishing of AFSPA and favoured the withdrawal of Centre Forces. Ramesh Arora appealed the Chief Minister to realize the factual position of ongoing militancy, which has support from local politicians and across the border. At least we should deal internal situation and formulate a strong policy and laws to deal with the elements within the state. A clear signal should be given to the separatist leaders that their inclination towards separate tendencies will not be tolerated at any cost.
