| SEPHR organizes awareness about HIV/AIDS | | | Early times Report Rajouri Sept 6: Keeping it’s tradition high for dissemination of information on spread of HIV/AIDS due to high risk behaviour Society for Environmental Protection & Human Rights (SEPHR) organized one day awareness programme on High Risk Behaviour and HIV/AIDS at village Dangari under Targeted Intervention Project with active support of the villagers. The camp was attended by the villagers, panchayat members, teachers, students, NGO workers etc. To gain more knowledge for safety from HIV/AIDS and its future consequences, Nassir Khan while giving brief detail about working of organization on HIV/AIDS informed the gathering about keeping safe distance from high risk behaviour by remaining faithful with their partners. He also asked participants to come forward for voluntarily counseling and testing for HIV which is available free of cost. Further suggested the participants to take blood of your well known person after testing for HIV/AIDS from blood bank of Govt. Hospital for transfusion in case of emergency and avoid taking blood of unknown person or person of high risk behaviour. The myths and doubts about HIV/AIDS and high risk behaviour which was cleared by the field staff of the organization, Counselor Neeru called upon villagers for freely coming for any type of consultation on HIV/AIDS without any fear. While stressing upon the people Mohd. Yusaf of SEPHR said that there should not be discrimination with people suffering from AIDS as they need organization’s sympathy but should learn one thing that there is no cure for HIV/AIDS but only cure that knowledge about safety and prevention. Participants appreciated efforts of SEPHR for organizing such pious awareness programme on HIV/AIDS and requested for organizing more such in future. At last BCC and counseling material was distributed among the participants on HIV/AIDS and safe pregnancy, safe blood transfusion etc.
