| Rs 71.8 cr outlay approved for Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 06-While approving highest ever plan outlay for Jammu to the extent of Rs.71.48 crore, the Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah also announced significant mega developmental projects for district Jammu today. Chairing the District Development Board meeting at Jammu, the Chief Minister announced constitution for Kissan Welfare Advisory Board on the same lines as Advisory Boards for Gujjar, Pahari, SC and ST. The Board will cater all the problems of the farmers and shall be competent to take decisions for their immediate redressal. The Board will be headed by the Chief Minister himself. The Chief Minister earmarked Rs.60 crore for BC road flyover and ordered to start the work for construction of fourth bridge on river Tawi for which Rs.10 crore were earmarked. This will address the long pending demand of people of Jammu, he added. He also announced Rs.5 crore for upgradation of rural roads of Jammu. Similarly Rs.2 crore were earmarked for Raghunath Bazar which will be developed as Heritage market. The Chief Minister also announced Rs.1 crore for beautification of River Tawi. While realising the problems of frequent burning of transformers and non-availability of funds, the Chief Minister announced establishment of transformer banks, where sufficient number of transformers will be available to replace defective ones without any delay. He advised concerned officers and departments to immediately work for the same so that people do not feel any inconvenience on this account in future. Mr. Omar also advised Urban Local Bodies Notified Area Committees of Arnia, Bishnah, Khour, Akhnoor and R S Pura to prepare the development plans of their areas to the extent of Rs.1 crore each. The JMC was advised to prepare development plans for extended wards to the tune of Rs.1 crore. The Chief Minister also announced Rs.36 crore for augmenting existing receiving stations of Jammu so that voltage is enhanced and they are able to cater the pumping station with required voltage. The Chief Minister also kept at the disposal of MLAs and MLCs 10 hand pumps each and with MPs 30 hand pumps, each so that they will be able to provide these in their respective constituencies as per requirement.The concerned department and engineers were advised to work immediately in this direction. The Chief Minister, while approving additional 15 percent on plan outlay as compared to last year, has also approved the projected outlay to the extent of Rs.71.48 crore which has made the plan as the highest plan for Jammu district so far. It was revealed in the board meeting that comprehensive sewages scheme for Greater Jammu under Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (JLNNURM) at cost of Rs.129.57 crore for laying of trunk at lateral sewer in four sectors of Jammu included house connections is in full progress. It includes construction of 27 Mld STPS in Jammu the government has also earmarked Rs.60 crore for upgradation and macadamization of roads in Jammu. The Chief Minister directed Divisional Commissioner Jammu to personally monitor its progress. Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Tara Chand, Minister for Health, Mr Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Revenue, Mr Raman Bhalla, Minister for R&B, Mr G M Saroori, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr S S Slathia, Minister for Higher Education, Mr Abdul Gani Malik, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr Mubarak Gul, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Mr Devender Singh Rana and, Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, Mr Arvinder Singh Mickey, Legislators of all political parties including Mr Ajay Sadhotra, Mr Chaman Lal Gupta, Mr Ashok Khajuria, Mr Sham Choudhary, Mr Sukhanadan Kumar, Mr Bharat Bhushan, Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, Mr Jugal Kishore, Mr Ashwani Kumar, Mr Yash Pal Kundal , Mrs Bimla Luthra, Chief Secretary, Mr S S Kapur, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr M K Dwivedi, and senior officers of administration were present.
