| Declare 10 districts of jammu province as ‘drought hit’:BJP | | | Early Times Report Jammu Sept 7 The state BJP has demanded declaring all the 10 districts of jammu province as drought hit and providing all possible help to the affected population to tide over the crises. According to the press statement the state BJP General Secretary and former MLA Bali Bhagat stressed for providing six months free ration and cash compensation to the affected people, adding that in areas like Kishtwar,Doda and Ramban districts the crop loss is to the tune of 99 to 100 per cent. He urged for setting of fodder banks to make fodder available free of cost to the farmers to save their live stock. BJP leader demanded introducing of crop and cattle insurance scheme at massive scale to cover all the farmers of the state that they could be adequately compensated for the crop loss caused due to draught, hail, wind storm, flush floods and natural climaties. He said that premium for the insurance in case of small and marginal farmers should be borne by the Govt. Bhagat also demanded for free seeds, fertilizers and other agriculture inputs to the draught affected people for sowing Rubby crops, He added that a comprehensive scheme needs to be formulated for tapping all possible water resources to bring maximum cultivable area under irrigation facilities
