| Highly acclaimed ‘Ghumayee’ being featured in six International Theatre Festivals | | | Early Times Report: Jammu, Sept 7- The highly acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ is going to create history for the state of Jammu and& Kashmir by being featured in six International Theatre Festivals. Announcing this at a news conference here today Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur said a group of sixteen artists of Natrang is leaving for Moscow on September 19 to have the shows in Russia, Germany, Hungary, and Poland. He said the most sought after global theatre events which Natrang is going to participate include ‘International Theatre Festival-Frankfurt’ (Germany) Moscow International Theatre Festival’ ‘Warsaw World Experimental Theatre Festival’ (Poland) and ‘Year of India in Russia’. Under year of India in Russia Natrang will present four shows which are supported by Indian council for Cultural Relations. Before the group leaves for International tour, twelve shows of the play are being staged at Jammu from September 9, which continue till September 18. However on September 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17 and 18, there will be two shows each day at 12pm and 6 pm at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. The show at noon will be exclusively for Children and evening shows will be for the general public. This is a life-time opportunity being extended by Natrang to the Jammuiites to witness this world class theatre production. He said that it took them twenty-seven years to achieve that excellence level which made their entry possible in the Global theatre arena. He complimented all those who toiled day and night to realize this life-time dream of Natrang. Now onwards Dogras will proudly be proclaiming the International recognition of their language and culture. The University of Jammu is also hosting a performance of the play ‘Ghumayee’ on September 14, 2009 at Zorawar Singh Auditorium. Written and directed by Balwant Thakur the play ‘Ghumayee’ has already been staged in India’s most prestigious National Theatre events.
