| Eight held on way to Pakistan, travel papers seized for probe | | | SUMIT SHARMA Jammu, Sept 7: Based on the information that a family was planning to travel to Pakistan on fake documents, the Crime Branch, in a well coordinated operation, arrested a party of eight persons near Jammu seized their passports and visas for verification. The arrested party of eight members was in the custody of the Crime Branch for further verification. Official sources said that the Crime Branch Jammu in association with their counterparts from Kashmir, laid down a naka at Nagrota on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near here and arrested eight persons for verification of their antecedents and the travel documents. Sources had told Crime Branch that the group was in contact with some militant organizations but nothing could be confirmed as of now. They were taken to Crime Branch Police Station in Police Control Room Jammu where during questioning they told police that they were going to Pakistan. Crime Branch has also seized their passports and visas for verification. Later all of them were handed over to the Crime Branch Srinagar for further investigation. As per source Crime Branch Jammu received information that eight persons are coming from Srinagar to Jammu with the intention to go to Pakistan on fake passports and visas. It was also informed that all of them have links with Pakistan and are working for militant groups. SSP Crime Branch JP Singh when contacted informed that the naka was established on the information that some suspects have links with militants and are going to Pakistan on fake passport and visas. Crime Branch had also information that they have some documents and maps in their possession and accordingly a joint naka of Crime Branch Jammu led by SSP Crime Branch JP Singh and Crime Branch Srinagar was established on National Highway at Nagrota. Crime Branch sleuths intercepted a Tata Sumo which was coming from Srinagar and arrested all the eight passengers identified as Ulfat Jaan, Kusma Bano, Firdous Ahmed,Musarat and two children of 2 and 5 years old. All are residents of Shopian and Pulwama. They were taken to police station where they admitted that they were going to Pakistan. They also admitted that they were frequent for the last many years and it was merely six months ago they came from Pakistan. Their passports and visas have been seized and are sent to Passport authority for verification. They were later handed over to the Crime Branch Srinagar for further verification.
