‘Their actions, deeds don’t match with ground realities’

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 8- Terming many leaders of Kashmir as ‘hypocrites’, BJP legislature party leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today asked the party activists to expose the claims and hipocratic behavior of the politicians whose actions and deeds do not match with the ground realities and also the role of their facilitators in Jammu and elsewhere.
Challenging the credentials of these leaders Gupta pointed out that in the valley they become Islamic, in Jammu they claim to be secular and in other parts of the country they pose themselves as staunch nationalists. ‘The most tragic part of the whole polity was that the Congress leadership had never a Kashmir policy and their fumbling and buckling has been the root cause for many problems in this troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir’, he pointed out.
Commenting upon the recent statements of Union Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah and some others that they are committed to equal treatment to all regions of the state and all sections of the society, Prof. Gupta alleged that the ground realities are otherwise. Their actions and deeds expose their claims itself. He added.
He pointed out that by getting Islamic in the valley these leaders much talk about reversal of the integration process to put back the state to 1953 position by raising slogans of autonomy while others talk about self rule or that of plebiscite as also removal of Indian Troops and withdrawal of their powers. But out of the valley they talk something else.
He recalled that when in 1948, the Sheikh led NC took over the reins of power, the Kashmiri Pandits and other minorities formed 14 per cent of the population of the valley but this ratio has come down over the years to less than one per cent, although most of the time there was the rule of the NC or that of the Congress or they were in coalition. If they were really secular and nationalists, the leaders of both the parties owe an explanation as to who was responsible for this sad situation.
The BJP leader further alleged that the Congress-PDP as also the Congress-NC leaders had scuttled the Rs. 2800 crore Action Plan for return and rehabilitation of migrants, prepared by the Koul Committee in 2002, during the NDA rule.
Not to say of the minorities these ruling leaders over the years have acted in a manner which shows that they do not like even the return of over three thousand Muslim migrants to the valley of Kashmir but for a nefarious and multi faced designs, he added and maintained that their utterances do not tally with the deeds and ground actions.
Challenging their claims about equal treatment to all three regions of the state, Prof. Gupta questioned Dr. Farooq and others in the hierarchy that they should explain that why an embargo has been put in this state on the Delimitation of Assembly and Lok Sabha seats till 2026, although Jammu has been politically enslaved by granting 37 assembly and three Lok Sabha seats as against 46 to assembly and three Lok Sabha seats although the number of electorates of two regions is almost equal and the geographical area of Jammu is nearly double to that of Kashmir valley.
