| Seven lady doctors accuse MS of indecent advances | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 8: At least seven women doctors at the Government Gandhi Nagar hospital have accused the Medical Superintendent of chronic attempts indecent advances at the work place. The Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma has instituted an inquiry to look into the matter in a time bound manner while the Medical Superintendent has outrightly denied allegations. Interestingly, despite a day long of hue and cry, complaints and inquiry panel, the Director Health Services Dr Jasbir Singh rubbished aside the reports claiming that nothing of sorts ever happened. Sources in Health Department and Police confirmed that seven women doctors accused Medical Superintendent of Gandhi Nagar Hospital Dr Vinod Kumar of sexual harassment. The written complaint was lodged by the lady doctors with the Director Health Service Dr Jasbir Singh who continues to deny the same. Dr Kumar, however, confirmed to Early Times that has been a complaint against him but he termed it as baseless and concocted to malign his image. “I am at the verge of retirement and these doctors are framing me as I often reprimanded them for the laxity in their duty”, said Dr Kumar. One of the complainants is daughter-in-law of an ex-MLA. “The doctors have alleged sexual harassment in the complaint which they handed over to the director”, sources said adding Director assured them of stern action would be taken. Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma said that he was informed about the complaint by the Director Health and probe has been order to find out truth. “I have asked Director to constitute a team of senior officers who will visit the Hospital and report the facts”, Sham Lal Sharma said. He said action would be taken after fact finding report is submitted by the committee.
