| Dogri Play ‘Ghumayee’ staged at Abhinav Theatre | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 9- The much acclaimed Dogri Play ‘Ghumayee’ written and directed by Balwant Thakur was staged at Abhinav Theatre here today. Minister for Medical Education R.S. Chib who was the Chief Guest on the occasion inaugurated the program with lighting of the traditional lamp. The play ‘Ghumayee’ has been selected for six International theatre festivals being held in Russia, Germany, Hungary and Poland. Before the group leaves for its International tour, 12 shows of the play are being presented by Natrang from September 9 to 19 for the people of Jammu. Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur in his welcome address said the new International Ghumayee has a new musical score and in lead singing in addition to the melodious voice of Suraj Singh the female lead singing is done by the famous TV show ‘Laughter Challenge’ fame Suganda. Sculptor and Painter Jagpal Singh have also brought in new concept of Dogra motifs. “GHUMAYEE” is a play based on a Dogri Folk Tale of a hilly village and opens with a 'VIDAI' scene after the solemnization of marriage and bride is being carried in a 'Doli' to her in-law’s place. Natrang actors were seen charged with new creative energy and demonstrated the fact that they are all set to create history for Jammu and India as well. The actors who participated today’s presentation included Suresh Kumar, Anil Tickoo, Vikrant Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, Sat Salarbi, Sunit Kumar, Tajasvi Sharma, Renu Kumari, Sona Mehar, Sumeet Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Pawan Verma , Rohit Verma and Suraj Singh. On behalf of Ranjeet Educational Trust Rakh Banduwala, Kunjwani, Jammu the participating artists were honoured for making it to the International Theatre festivals. Speaking on the occasion Chib complimented Balwant Thakur and his Natrang team for creating a history for Dogri Language and culture. He assured all possible help to the group in its endeavor of establishing Jammu as the ultimate destination of cultural happenings.
