| Demand for fly over bridge near Devika shrine voiced | | | Sarita Jamwal Udhampur Sept 9- Local residents of Udhampur has sought urgently an over fly bridge over Jammu Srinagar National Highway near historical Devika Shrine. Showing great concern over increasing road mishaps in the area, the residents have demanded deployment of traffic police personnel near Devika crossing till the construction of fly over especially during school timing and peak hours. Dr Vikram Gulati a resident said that due to absence of over fly bridge on highway near Devika crossing people in general are facing great problem who often visit at Lord Shiva temple to pay obeisance every day and those who came here to perform last rites at Devika cremation ground .He added that majority of population, number of Educational institutions and government offices are on both sides of national highway but due to absence of fly over bridge it is great risky for school children to cross busiest national highway every day . He said the buses that come from the Kashmir, Jammu and other parts of state and local mini buses too halt on the NH, thus creating problems for the pedestrians especially small children and aged people to reach the other side without support, he said Vinod Kumar and Raj Kumar shopkeeper said that there is no zebra crossing even on road. To make matters worse, no traffic policeman is deployed at the most busiest crossing on highway. They said that the issue had been raised several times with the District administration, but of no avail. The residents threatened to hold a demonstration to press its demand for a fly over bridge in the area.
