Shabir Khan distributed prizes among winners in Rajouri

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 09 - Minister of State for Forest Environment Ecology, Transport, Labour and Employment, CA&PD, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan has said that government is keen to provide infrastructure facilities for promotion of sports activities in the state. Mr. Khan was addressing the prize distribution function during final match of Kabadi between Udhampur V/s Rajouri on concluding day of inter district tournaments held in Mini Sports Stadium Rajouri yesterday. In the final Udhampur beat Rajouri by 36-12 points.
While lauding the Sports department, Mr. Khan said that sports activities are part and parcel of the healthy society particularly in the present era of competitions in every sphere of life. He also stressed for organizing rural sports at panchayat level for creating sense of sportsman ship among the younger generation. For the purpose the funds shall be provided out of his constituency development funds for organizing such events at panchayat levels. He added said that government is keen to update the sports stadium in each district of the state for the promotion of the sports activities.
Among others present on the occasion were District Development Commissioner, Rajouri S. Jaipal Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri, President, Municipal Corporation, Vice Chairman National Human Right Commission and district president ICELA, Chief Education Officer, officers of Sports department and prominent citizens of the town besides participant teams.
Earlier, District Youth Services and Sports Officer S. Rajinder Singh gave a resume of the activities of the department and intimated that 200 boys representing ten districts of Jammu province have taken part in this tournament. Giving further detail he said that under 19 years Doda beat Jammu 52-29, Ramban defeated Samba 57-52m Kathua beat Poonch 45-38. Similarly under 14 year Kathua trounced Jammu 61-23 and Doda thrashed Poonch by 43-40 points.
