| Shopian case referred to CBI | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar Sept 9: After months of protests and confusing politics, the coalition government has formally approached the central government for handing over Shopian rape and murder case to the Central Bureau of Investigations.
According to an official spokesman, the state government has approached the Secretary Department of Personnel and Trainings, Government of India, New Delhi along with copies of FIR proforma and other relating documents of the Shopian case for entrusting the case to the CBI for holding investigation.
In this connection, a notification has been issued by the Financial Commissioner, Home Department today vide No. Home/PB-IC/2009/13, which reads “in pursuance of section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946 (Act No. 25 of 1946), the Government of Jammu and Kashmir hereby accords its consent to the extension of powers and jurisdiction of the members of Delhi Special Police Establishment to the State of Jammu and Kashmir for investigation of offence(s) arising out of FIR No. 112/2009, regarding gruesome murder of Mst. Neelofar Jan wife of Shri Shakeel Ahmad Ahanger and Miss Asiya Jan daughter of Shri Abdul Gani Ahanger residents of Bongam, Shopian registered in Police Station, Shopian”. |
