| UPA Govt incapable of protecting lives of people in J&K: Khajuria | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 10- Strongly pleading for framing an effective and clear cut policy to ensure dismantling of terrorist training and launching pads across the border, BJP State President Ashok Khajuria today charged the Congress-led UPA of being incapable in protecting the lives of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. The increased infiltration from across the border necessitates the Union government to take pro-active steps for giving a blow to anti-national activities against India. The central government needs to direct its armed forces to take on the enemies across the border like United States and Israel did against their foes. This would also help in restoring sense of confidence among the people, especially those living in border areas of the state, he added. Khajuria pointed out that upsurge in the terrorist related activities is due to deviation of the UPA from the firm stand adopted by the previous BJP-led NDA government which had categorically informed the Pakistan government that there can not be any peace talks till it stops supporting the terrorists. Had the UPA government also taken the same stand before resuming talks with Pakistan, the situation today would have been entirely different so far as terrorist activities from across the border are concerned, he said. Terming the demand of PDP and other organizations regarding withdrawal of forces from the state as totally anti-national, Khajuria said the Army Chief and other senior officials have opposed the troops’ withdrawal keeping in view the sensitivity of the situation. He asked the central government, especially the Prime Minister and the Defence minister to reverse the move on withdrawal of armed forces from Poonch and Rajouri areas in the interest of the security of the state and its people, which may otherwise be forced to migrate due to insecurity. He also urged the power that be not to fall prey to the mischievous designs of vested interests in Jammu and Kashmir on withdrawal of troops.
