| School Lecturers on warpath | | Not ready to take College Principal at BOSE | | SANDEEP BHATT Jammu, Sept 10: Higher Secondary Lecturers have declared a sort of revolt against the department of School Education and picked up direct confrontation with the Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed for allegedly ‘hiring’ a College Principal for the job Secretary Board of School Education. The School Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, however, says that there is absolutely nothing wrong in making such appointment and there have been numerous examples from the past also. The State Board of School Education (BOSE) is reportedly short of staff at its top levels and therefore officers are being brought on deputation from the Department of Higher Education or from the Universities. In the prevailing situation three posts of Joint Secretary rank were lying vacant for the last six months in the board due to lack of competent officers. A month BACK one post out of three was filled by appointing Mohammad Javid Khateeb, Principal from Government Degree College Bhaderwah. The appointment has developed hue and cry in certain sections of educated field and have raised questions about appointing a retiree besides from Higher education Department. “The appointment has put credibility of BOSE in question as there are several officers who could have been appointed as Joint Secretaries but appointing retired principal from Higher Education Department depicts non availability of competitive officers” one of board official said requesting anonymity. Minister for School Education Peerzada Mohmmad Syeed while clarifying his stand said that there are no restrictions and bindings of transferring and posting of officers from BOSE to Higher Education Department or vica-versa. He said it is the prerogative of Services Committee to choose the competent officers for appointment at desired position. When asked that lecturers are going to boycott over the issue, he replied that lecturers did not have engagements and they are utilizing their time to stage boycott and other similar acts. Meanwhile, All J&K Plus 2 Lectures Forum has decided to boycott on September 14 to protest Joint Sectary’s appoint. “Hopefully all the members of associated with forum will extend support on the prescribed date beside a memorandum to government will be submitted by the forum regarding illegality” said N.S Jamwal to media reporters in Jammu today. He further said under the chairmanship of Malik Mohammed Usman, State President All J&K Plus 2 Lecturers’ Forum through president H.D Qureshi demanded immediate removal of the college principal as the joint secretary in BOSE within ten days. He further said that in the premises of directorate of school education the forum will raise the genuine voice against their encroaching rights by the BOSE authorities
